Background

John A. Alumit, concentrates his practice on the full spectrum of trademark and copyright clearance, enforcement, prosecution and litigation, representing individuals and corporations.

As a former USPTO Examining Attorney, Mr. Alumit has gained extensive experience in trademark prosecution, clearance, enforcement, and counseling, including litigation before government administrative tribunals. He counsels his clients in all phases of disputes on both routine and complex infringement matters. When matters cannot be resolved through administrative means, he represents his clients in litigation in the U.S. District Courts and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Mr. Alumit has been ranked as a top U.S. trademark attorney for the number of applications received by the USPTO.

Represented a domain name holder in federal litigation brought by a national bank over a domain dispute resulting in a large monetary settlement in favor of our client.

Forced the transfer of a domain name (costamartravel.com) registered in bad faith through ICANN proceedings conducted via the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Successfully appealed a refusal by an Examining Attorney before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board for the trademark BBQ PIT STOP.

Successfully obtained several default judgments before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board resulting in cancellation of abandoned trademark registrations.

Settled numerous oppositions and cancellations before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
